Regardless of what may have occurred in your life over the past year, you could probably agree that you’re not the same person. The events of the past year have shaped you into who you are today—good or bad, better or worse, you are different.

If you take a moment to think about the last year, you’ll remember some highs and lows. There may have been some challenges and some triumphs. Maybe you accomplished a long-awaited goal or failed to accomplish something you were hoping to complete. Maybe a friendship was lost. A friend or family member may have passed away. Or you experienced some tragic event.

Only God knows what the next year holds for you, but you have today.

Today, you can choose have a positive response to negativity.

Today, you can choose to apologize to mend a broken relationship.

Today, you can choose to love rather than hate.

Today, you can choose to be selfless rather than selfish.

Today, you can choose words that build up rather than tear down.

Today, you can choose to love God and those closest to you.

Today, you can choose to be a better you.

Regardless of what other people say about you, you can become everything God desires for you to be. You can be different. There is hope to change.

Being a better person is within the reach of all of us. Nothing is impossible for God. Go to the Lord and present your requests unto Him. Commit yourself to His ways and allow Him to help you change the nature of your mind and heart.

Your next year may bring great success, great tragedy, or a little of both. Regardless of what the future holds for you, you don’t have to allow past or future events to harden your mind and heart. You can be a brand new you.
