1 Thessalonians 5:18 - In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you. (KJV)

In the midst of drama, trials, tribulation, frustration, and pain, there is a reason to be thankful. Our society (and flesh) has taught us to focus on the negative and the worst of situations, keeping us in a constant pattern of misery and negativity. This pattern affects our decisions, outlook on humanity, and our lives as Disciples of Jesus Christ.

We cannot forget that giving thanks is God’s will for Christians. In addition, thankfulness prepares our heart to gleefully accept God and to thank Him for all that He has done. It allows us to see the good in our situations – moving us beyond negativity and placing our outlook on life in its proper perspective.

What can you do to keep an attitude of thanks?

  • Read this scriptures on thankfulness.
  • Listen to songs of praise and/or worship that focus on thankfulness and God's goodness.
  • Read inspirational stories.
  • Create a Journal of Praise – writing the good things God has done in your life. When days become tough, read through your journal to remind you of the good things God has done.
  • Speak with friends that help you retain or regain your attitude of thanksgiving.

There are many things that can be done to keep you focused on giving thanks in all circumstances.  Find ways to keep your light shining in spite of the darkness which seeks to cloud your existence before man and God.  Allow thankfulness to propel you into atmosphere and environment of praise and worship before the Father.
