The Lord told me the other day that righteous living begins with loving Him:

Matthew 22:35-38 (KJV) - Then one of them, which was a lawyer, asked him a question, tempting him, and saying, Master, which is the great commandment in the law? Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind. This is the first and great commandment.

As we begin to love God with all of our heart, soul, and mind, everything else becomes secondary. When temptation, ungodly 'opportunities,' or the opportunity to bless someone arises, our love for God will overshadow the need to give into temptation; act ungodly; or turn someone away. Godliness will be at the forefront of our minds and will enable us to love God (John 14:15) and glorify Him through our actions.
