I have spent many years serving in ministries; creating lessons and programs; preaching; and serving in various ministerial capacities. Providing Can You Spare A Few Minutes for free has really opened my understanding on how ministry is a service to others. One of the definitions Dictionary.com provides for minister is to attend to the wants and needs of others. One definition for service is active devotion to God, as through good works or prayer. Lastly, servant is given a definition as one who expresses submission, recognizance, or debt to another. The debt I owe for my life, I can never repay. My life is not my own for it was bought with the Blood of Jesus Christ. I am a servant of Jesus Christ: 1 Corinthians 7:22-24 (KJV) - For he that is called in the Lord, being a servant, is the Lord's freeman: likewise also he that is called, being free, is Christ's servant. Ye are bought with a price; be not ye the servants of men. Brethren, let every man, wherein he is called, therein abide with God. My service, devotion, good works, prayer, and active devotion are for God. As God wills, the expression of my love and devotion to Him is extended to His children and those that are still lost in the world – in word and deed. I find it an honor to serve God and His people through Spiritual Combatants and I pray there will be many, many which will share their work in the Lord for free. There are thousands, if not millions of people across the Internet and around the world that give their services to the glory of God…for free. I don’t know how Can You Spare A Few Minutes is touching lives and even if anyone is reading it. I shared my life and heart under the guidance of the Lord – if people reject it or accept – I cannot control. My goal is to be obedient to the will of the Lord, not to please man. There is a struggle within me because the flesh wants to be accepted, loved, and honored. If I’m not careful, I can get sucked back into providing ministry services for selfish reasons – success and money. The flesh must be crucified with its affections and lust – Galatians 5:24 (not just sexual, but material, etc.). I’m not sure how long I will live on this earth, but while I’m here, I’d like to share my life and the work God has enabled me to do – I won’t be able to take my material possessions with me. I only have one life to live and then the judgment (Hebrews 9:27), so I might as well make it count! Like Paul, in remembering the words of the Lord Jesus, “It is more blessed to give than to receive” (Acts 20:35 - KJV). |
