I left out the Bible versions because I do not want you to be focused on Bible versions and possibly miss the intent of this journal entry.

About a month before I became of disciple of Jesus, I purchased a Bible - let's call it VERSION 1. I still have VERSION 1 today, but I used it for the first year or so of my Christian journey. After moving to another church, I began using VERSION 2. It was their 'standard' Bible of use - for all members throughout the denomination.

It took some time to get used to VERSION 2. This caused me to stay in various dictionaries and commentaries in order to get a full understanding of what was being said. In time, I found that my retention, memory, and understanding were a lot better than when I used VERSION 1.

In time, I moved away from VERSION 2 - as I moved away from that particular church. Over the next few years I used VERSIONS 3, 4, and 5. And over the course of that period, the Holy Spirit reminded me of scriptures written from VERSION 2...and I would quote scriptures from VERSION 2.

(Confused yet?! Read on...)

Here's the thing, if a Bible (VERSION 2) has provided so much toward my growth in the Lord, why haven't I gone back to it?!

Due to some recent events, I've come full circle with VERSION 2. I will go another 'round' toward completely immersing myself in VERSION 2 (permanently). It doesn't make any sense for me to stay away from a Bible version that has given me so much in return. It's 'foolishness' on my own part to stay away from it.

I share this as a reminder for myself (in case I get skittish) and for you as well. I pray you will stay with those things that keep you growing in the Lord and will not turn from them for any reason. Stay with what works for you and allow God's word to radiate through you!
