This weekend I wanted to place a Bible on the website for my own studies. I wanted something easily accessible and powerful with lots of features. I reviewed two Bibles and downloaded them both. I spent over eight+ hours trying to configure and use these Bibles.
Having a Bible on the site isn't a new idea. The Lord was motioning me that it was unnecessary to place a Bible on the website:
- I spent a lot of time away from my purpose and other important activities.
- There are people whom God gave the desire to build online Bibles (see Exodus 31:1-11 for an example).
- Online speed shouldn't be an issue because I have a cable modem with a pretty fast connection.
Why do I need my own Bible? I guess I just wanted to have my 'own' thing. I didn't want to depend on another site that could shut down without notice and leave me 'hanging.'
If the Lord decides to end a ministry, He will definitely raise another at His appointed time. I believe He will continue to support those that call upon His name to reach a world in darkness. Therefore, I should keep my focus on what's important in my life and support those that build programs and products for God's glory...and our edification. There are a number of online Bible sites that provide beautiful resources with a click of the mouse.
Though Spiritual Combatants may have a specific ministry, I should not spend my time trying to work alone, be self-sufficient, and not support other ministries (by using/sharing resources). I must support those that carry their banner for Christ for they allow me to do the same.
