For the last year, I've wanted to update this website. I wanted something with a little more pizzazz and flare - maybe more pictures...and make it lighter. As a military-oriented site, I've used a small color palette and I'd like to stick to the same type of theme.
I've thought about everything from redesigning the site to a complete overhaul. Both of these options would be massive projects that would easily take a good week or two (even more for the overhaul). (Knowing me) I'd spend every free moment trying to get it working properly - sacrificing many of my responsibilities - I can get REALLY focused.
At times I feel that it doesn't matter because the substance of the site should outweigh the look of it. But as an artist (and a perfectionist), good is not always enough and I want to try new things. New things can be good, but there's a price to pay for it. The time and energy I put into designing a new site is non-refundable, plus I may not even like the site and will feel bad for wasting so much of my time that could be better spent elsewhere. So where does this leave me...right where I am.
There are a couple of things I would like to change and I have begun those processes already. One of the items I'm changing is the length of some of my entries. Instead of having the entire entry (which can be up to three pages), I will provide samples where only the first few paragraphs will be shown with a 'Continue reading...' link below. I think this will help sift through the entries as the site continues to grow. The other change is a little extensive and shouldn't get too much of my attention at this point - I'm not trying to overwhelm myself.
At some point, a 'change' will matter...when there is a need, but for now things are fine where they are.
