I want to teach through my lifestyle. Many of us have different layers and personas we maintain based on the company we keep. We act one way around our neighborhood friends and another at church and the office. (Don't forget our actions when no one is watching.) Sadly, there are times when our actions do not line up with the scriptures. It's almost like we have split personalities. I'd be the first to admit that my lifestyle hasn't been consistent across the board. My actions at work are not always consistent with those at church and in the home. Even though my co-workers may not see me in Christian settings, they know who I am in Christ and that is a witness and testimony in itself (whether good or bad). Just as important is my 'charge' to love my family as I love myself. (Think of the implications of 'destroying' my witness at home.) Make the commitment to discipline yourself to live as a living epistle for the world to read. Matthew 5:14-16 (KJV) - Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on an hill cannot be hid. Neither do men light a candle, and put it under a bushel, but on a candlestick; and it giveth light unto all that are in the house. Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven. |
