Proverbs 11:3 (KJV) - The integrity of the upright shall guide them: but the perverseness of transgressors shall destroy them.

A few weeks ago I came home and my daughter was reading a book. I asked why she wasn't watching TV. She told me that since she left part of her homework at school, she wasn't allowed to watch television. Now, this 'rule' has been in place over the past couple years to ensure my daughter remembers to bring her work from school. We wanted to ensure her focus was on school and not talking with friends. And since that time, we've used this rule on a few occasions, but there was a substantial decrease in missed homework assignments.

When I asked her why she wasn't watching TV, I wasn't thinking about this rule - I was about to turn the TV on! To be honest, I don't even know if I would have remembered the rule once she told me she didn't bring all of her homework home. So, I left the TV off to allow her punishment to continue through the night, but I very proud of her integrity. Where many children would find ways to get around a punishment (especially when no one is looking), my daughter self-imposed her punishment.

In what ways can you display integrity in your life?
