Free Book: STAR Power

STAR Power by Hamp Lee III

The purpose of STAR Power is to address how we as leaders, pastors, etc. can motivate volunteers. Within my own ministry settings, the subject of motivating volunteers is almost non-existent. So many churches are looking for volunteers, but how many are striving to keep them motivated? I'm sure each of you knows at least 10 people (right now) that are stressed and burned out in ministry...with little or no motivation.

This short booklet addresses this issue under the headings of Support, Training, Appreciation, and Restoration (STAR). STAR Power provides a quick look into an area long overdue - motivate your volunteers!

What do you consider when looking for a church home?

  • Do you look for a certain type of pastor (or preaching style)?
  • Are you searching for a solid children's ministry?
  • What about the various 'support' ministries (i.e. marriage, men ministries) and services (member and outreach) of the church?

Many people have long checklists when looking for a new church. They want to find a church that meets not only their needs, but their family as well. They may have the best of intentions, but is there too much of our own desires in choosing a church? Should we be looking for a church of God's choosing?

Can we be looking for a church that soothes our desires?

In the myriad of churches, there will be some that meet our personal needs and others that will not. Should we not trust God to lead us to a church home? He knows our needs and the needs of His people. Though we have specific desires, God may have other plans for us that go beyond our own finite ideals (Isaiah 55:9-11).

God may need us to attend a particular church to assist the pastor or a member (or members) of the congregation. We may have a God-given gift that is needed in the church or there is someone in the church to help us in our season of life.

God knows what you need-even better than you! Trust Him to lead you to HIS church; a place that leads to obedience, worship, and love.
