About a month before I placed my faith in Jesus (March 1997), I saw a really cool license plate in the church parking lot. I thought it was really catchy. Since that time, I lived overseas and never had an opportunity to get a specialized license plate for my car. The closest I came was a key chain I purchased from Las Vegas.

Since returning to the United States, I've wanted a personalized license plate. Being in Hawaii, I can only use six letters, so it had to be good. I played around with a few things, but nothing materialized. My supervisor purchased one and my wife has been talking about it, so I decided to get serious about it. I wanted a license plate that not only displayed my Christian faith, but was also thought provoking. I thought of REPENT (taken), BLIEVE (too vague), BLESSD (taken), JESUS (taken), SAFNGD (vague), LV4GOD (taken), LUVGOD (taken)...

After numerous attempts, the Lord gave me a license plate that was thought-provoking and wasn't taken. I contemplated the purchase for a few weeks and even tried a few more ideas, but the same license plate rose to the top...so I purchased it a couple of days ago.

Then...I started thinking about the implication of having God's name on the car (the license plate does have GOD in it). Even though my car isn't raggedy, I must ensure it's kept clean. God also convicted me about my driving - ensuring that I'm obeying the laws of the road, not cutting people off, etc. Now, the car (and my driving) will be a direct representation of Him...to be honest it's been that way all along.
