A Long Way Coming

April 27th will represent 10 years of being a disciple of Jesus Christ. As I reflected over the past 10 years, a couple of things came to mind:

There's much more to do.

As long as I have breath in my body, there will be a purpose for me to fulfill. At all costs, I must continue to press toward the mark that Christ has placed ahead of me.

Philippians 3:7-15 (KJV) - But what things were gain to me, those I counted loss for Christ. Yea doubtless, and I count all things but loss for the excellency of the knowledge of Christ Jesus my Lord: for whom I have suffered the loss of all things, and do count them but dung, that I may win Christ, And be found in him, not having mine own righteousness, which is of the law, but that which is through the faith of Christ, the righteousness which is of God by faith: That I may know him, and the power of his resurrection, and the fellowship of his sufferings, being made conformable unto his death; If by any means I might attain unto the resurrection of the dead. Not as though I had already attained, either were already perfect: but I follow after, if that I may apprehend that for which also I am apprehended of Christ Jesus. Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended: but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before, I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus. Let us therefore, as many as be perfect, be thus minded: and if in any thing ye be otherwise minded, God shall reveal even this unto you.

Keep your mind 'right.'

Right after the first quote came, I received this scripture:

Luke 10:17-20 (KJV) - And the seventy returned again with joy, saying, Lord, even the devils are subject unto us through thy name. And he said unto them, I beheld Satan as lightning fall from heaven. Behold, I give unto you power to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy: and nothing shall by any means hurt you. Notwithstanding in this rejoice not, that the spirits are subject unto you; but rather rejoice, because your names are written in heaven.

After being sent by Jesus to proclaim, 'the Kingdom of God has come near to you,' the seventy returned joyfully saying even the demons are subject to us in your name...

I have been sent to do many things in the name of the Lord and can return to Him and others joyfully proclaiming the 'works' I have done in His name. As with the seventy, the Holy Spirit reminded me not to rejoice in the power I have been given in Jesus' name or the accomplishments I've completed, but to rejoice that my name is written in heaven.

No matter how many more years I have to serve the Lord on this earth, let me live in joyful praise that my name is written in heaven.
