Talk About Your Sin

John 3:20-21 – For every one that doeth evil hateth the light, neither cometh to the light, lest his deeds should be reproved. But he that doeth truth cometh to the light, that his deeds may be made manifest, that they are wrought in God.

Many people live with hidden sins.  There’s a great sense of fear, terror, and shame drives us to remain silent because we don’t want that part of our lives to be exposed. When we live in this manner however, we allow sin to live and breed in the darkness of our mind, will, and emotions. We allow sin to have its greatest victory over us, where we become its slave (John 8:34; Romans 6:16).

Sometimes we’re so ashamed that we refuse to speak about our sin to the Lord, who knows and sees all (Psalm 44:21, 139:7-12).

James 5:16 – Confess your faults one to another, and pray one for another, that ye may be healed. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much.

As you repent before the Lord and commit your way to truth (and His Word), seek the support and prayers of GODLY, MATURE, RESPONSIBLE, NON-JUDGMENTAL, and NON-GOSSIPING church elders and believers to assist you along the way.

As you expose your sin, embarrassment may rise and your heart may convict you (1 John 3:18-24), but it is the Lord that’s greater than our hearts and can help us find true peace in the light. You may even become upset when someone you confided in says something you don’t like. Just remember that their desire is to help you live for God, not to condemn you further. You must continue to reach toward love (1 Corinthians 13:1-8) to overcome some of the frustrations you’re experiencing.

When you talk about your sin, you expose it for what it is, and make the conscious decision to be free, rather than returning to it again and again. Walk in the light and expose your sin for what it is. Live in the freedom Jesus has died to give the world. Talk about your sin.

1 John 1:6-10 – If we say that we have fellowship with him, and walk in darkness, we lie, and do not the truth: But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin. If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. If we say that we have not sinned, we make him a liar, and his word is not in us.
