When an evil spirit from God trouble King Saul, David played the harp for him. His playing would refresh Saul and the evil spirit would depart from him (1 Samuel 16:15-23).
Music is a very powerful influence to lift our spirits and even remove evil spirits from our lives. The next time you find yourself depressed or sad, find the one song that can lift your spirits, your fight song.
You have one life to live…live it to the full for the glory of God.
In God is everything you need…now and forever. Trust in Him.
There is a path God wants you to follow; a path unique to each of us, but ending in the same place. Some paths are filled with beautiful scenery and others come with twists and turns. But if you are faithful and stay on the path, you will find at the end, an eternal home waiting for you. Take up your cross today, and follow Christ.
In Judges 3:1-2, the Lord left nations to test Israel, but also to teach them to know war. There may be times in our lives when difficult people and situations are placed in our lives to grow and develop us. Though it might not be pleasant on our flesh, let us lean on God and count our trials and tribulations as a joy because they can mold us into strong, mature believers who trust in God…becoming perfect and entire, wanting nothing. (Ref. Judges 3:1-2; James 1:1-8)
Luke 7:11-17 – And it came to pass the day after, that he went into a city called Nain; and many of his disciples went with him, and much people. Now when he came nigh to the gate of the city, behold, there was a dead man carried out, the only son of his mother, and she was a widow: and much people of the city was with her. And when the Lord saw her, he had compassion on her, and said unto her, Weep not. And he came and touched the bier: and they that bare him stood still. And he said, Young man, I say unto thee, Arise. And he that was dead sat up, and began to speak. And he delivered him to his mother. And there came a fear on all: and they glorified God, saying, That a great prophet is risen up among us; and, That God hath visited his people. And this rumour of him went forth throughout all Judaea, and throughout all the region round about.
From Luke 7:11-17, there are three specific applications for our lives today:
1. Opportunities for ministry happen every day. Opportunities to be a blessing and service others will often come outside of the church building. Every day, we have opportunities to minister to others while driving to work, shopping at the supermarket, and going to the moves.
We live in a time where people are selfish. Like Paul describing the last days to Timothy, his message resonates with us today:
2 Timothy 3:1-5 – This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come. For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, Without natural affection, trucebreakers, false accusers, incontinent, fierce, despisers of those that are good, Traitors, heady, highminded, lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God; Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away.
When we read these scriptures in 2 Timothy, self is an underlying theme. In many ways, we see selfish acts on a daily basis, where actions and motives are based on what a person can receive or take from another person and not what they give.
Proverbs 24:16 – For a just man falleth seven times, and riseth up again: but the wicked shall fall into mischief.
There are times when you fail (and fall) so bad that you want to give up. You’re embarrassed, frustrated, guilt-ridden, and mad at yourself. Unlike the world that gives up on you when you fail, God gives you another opportunity to get it right. He gives you another chance to start over. He gives you a chance to rise and stand again.
God wants you to get back in the game.
You can overcome, but you will never know unless you get up.
Repent and rise! If you fall again, repent and rise again. Don’t give up. Keep your eyes on God and allow Him to help you to remain standing.
God has not given up in you. He is giving you another opportunity to overcome because He loves you.
Rise! Get back in the game!

When the world hurts you, your heart does not heal properly. It leaves a scab that negatively impacts how you see and experience everyone and everything around you.
When the Lord heals, He takes the scab off, exposing the hurt, but only so He can completely heal you.
Do not despise or turn away from His healing process. God is doing a good work in you, making you new and whole again.

Again, the kingdom of heaven is like unto a net, that was cast into the sea, and gathered of every kind: Which, when it was full, they drew to shore, and sat down, and gathered the good into vessels, but cast the bad away. So shall it be at the end of the world: the angels shall come forth, and sever the wicked from among the just, And shall cast them into the furnace of fire: there shall be wailing and gnashing of teeth. —Matthew 13:47-50
In this parable, Jesus is describing the kingdom of heaven. The net is cast into the sea and collects sea creatures of every kind. After coming ashore, the good and bad were separated. In like manner, the kingdom of heaven is shared with many people around the world. And many people will come to Jesus, the church, etc. At the end of the world, the angels will come and separate the just from the wicked.
1. God drew you. The just and the wicked will be separated, but the beauty of this parable is that the just and the wicked are gathered together. The wicked has an opportunity to become just.
