Don’t Exclude

John 3:16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

God loved THE WORLD so much that He gave His ONLY begotten Son! The world Jesus refers to encompasses all people, regardless of their status, race, beliefs, or conduct. Some people believe the world refers only to certain types of people…people that look, act, and believe as they do. to think God will only save certain types of people. Everyone else is not worthy of God’s love or forgiveness and deserve an eternity in hell.

Holding On

There will be times when God may not answer right away, will have another answer, or will remain in silence. In these circumstances, it’s important for us not to allow our faith and trust in Him to diminish.

We must continue to trust Him and remain faithful. We can’t treat God as a sugar daddy or a genie to provide our every wish and command…and then leave Him if He doesn’t give us what we want. That isn’t the way we should serve Him. Sometimes He will give, sometimes He’ll take away, and sometimes He’ll want us to stay on course (according to His will). However, we must continue to praise Him, bless His name, and serve Him faithfully because He is sovereign and His will is just.

I feel desire in my bones that runs so deep Calling out for my flesh in days it is weak Like buddies hanging closer than the strongest glue Killing me softly with ideas that seem so true I must move past the desire and guard from the fire With addiction coming strong to build its empire I run faster than gingerbread with no sign of escape Addiction on the prowl it seems to my last day SAVE ME LORD, I tried and failed at all that I could My actions in the flesh have not been what they should I cannot live a life for you without your loving protection Show the way, build me up, teach me fleshly rejection Lead me step-by-step Breath-by-breath Where I need to be kept To kill addiction at its core where You’re all that’s left I can be free and live out every godly ambition Take it slow, read the Word, heed its loving petition Remain faithful to the Lord in the day of the fight Set your feet upon Jesus and prepare your light

Hands Off (Poems)

Keep your hands far away from the cookie jar Pass the plate and be healthy from sin-laced candy bars Get on the lookout for temptation strollin like a Sunday driver In the streets giving rides to any straying hitchhikers Hit the track, beat the record and break the tape Win the prize marked for you promised in the last day Stay steady on the road that leads you to freedom Pay no attention to temptation when he comes to see you But ‘I know him,’ maybe so a long time ago But would a friend lie to you to destroy your soul Blowing kisses and passing notes to deceive your life Check NO, not maybe so, to live a righteous life Hear the bell and proceed to your spiritual class The grace of God is your teacher and will help you pass Submit your walk and your life to our Savior and King Keep your eyes on the prize and not detestable things

The NO NO (Poem)

Say no to sex before marriage and out of its bed Set boundaries on your life and tame the thoughts in your head Speaking lying ‘benefits’ that won’t get you far Save yourself for the wedding night and not the back of a car Don’t listen to the flesh with its desire for pleasure It’s a lie to destroy you and your sacred treasure Life’s too precious for two minutes of naughtiness Sin and disease spill over and makes your life a complete mess You think that’s pleasure? Think again and turn over the sin Lace up your shoes on your mark and run as fast as you can Take the road of escape that leads from temptation Heed the call of the preacher sharing this revelation Keeping sexual relations sacred in the eyes of the Father Conform your life to the NO NO from this point and farther

Entertain Me?!

There are many movies we would like to see because they provide an outlet of entertainment and fellowship. But as you seek movies for your enjoyment, you must consider the content and message of each. Many of the movies today contain images and messages that are ungodly. Cursing, sexual messages, nudity, senseless killing, blasphemy, etc. fill the box offices looking for our hard-earned dollars.

As children of God, we must be careful of the movies we support. The movies described above do not support or provide the godly lifestyle our Father desires us to live. It only keeps us connected to the world:

Dealing with a Loss

Romans 12:15Rejoice with them that do rejoice, and weep with them that weep.

When people experience a loss in their family or circle of friends, we often feel like we should say or do something, but we don’t know what. Though the situation may be awkward, we figure something is better than nothing…

Even though we may mean well, our words or actions may not be well received. We must consider the condition (and emotional state) of others instead of what we would like to do or say to them. We should want  our words to be well received and planted in the good soil of their hearts.

Ask the Lord to show you how you can help them right where they are. Maybe it’s bringing them a box of Kleenex, cooking dinner for their family, giving them a ride, or buying flowers. Maybe you are with them in silence. How about watering their grass (or cutting it), picking up their kids from school, or helping with chores around the house?

Please consider the following scriptures:

Proverbs 25:20 – As he that taketh away a garment in cold weather, and as vinegar upon nitre, so is he that singeth songs to an heavy heart.

Proverbs 25:11A word fitly spoken is like apples of gold in pictures of silver.

Ecclesiastes 3:1-8To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven: A time to be born, and a time to die; a time to plant, and a time to pluck up that which is planted; A time to kill, and a time to heal; a time to break down, and a time to build up; A time to weep, and a time to laugh; a time to mourn, and a time to dance; A time to cast away stones, and a time to gather stones together; a time to embrace, and a time to refrain from embracing; A time to get, and a time to lose; a time to keep, and a time to cast away; A time to rend, and a time to sew; a time to keep silence, and a time to speak; A time to love, and a time to hate; a time of war, and a time of peace.

Psalm 139:13-16For thou hast possessed my reins: thou hast covered me in my mother’s womb. I will praise thee; for I am fearfully and wonderfully made: marvellous are thy works; and that my soul knoweth right well. My substance was not hid from thee, when I was made in secret, and curiously wrought in the lowest parts of the earth. Thine eyes did see my substance, yet being unperfect; and in thy book all my members were written, which in continuance were fashioned, when as yet there was none of them.

Take a look at your index fingerprint. It gives evidence that we are special creations made by the Father. We have the very imprints of His design. The breaths you take. The blinking of your eyes. The body’s ability to regenerate skin cells. The cardiovascular system.

How can any of us be a mistake when we have been created with such detail?

You are a beautiful creation of our Father. You are precious and priceless – worthy of God’s greatest gift, Jesus Christ. If you ever consider yourself as worthless or a mistake, just look at your index finger. May it serve as a reminder of God’s special fingerprint on you and your life.

Temptation and sin are not to be played with. They shouldn’t be given any opportunity to linger within your mind, body, or soul (etc.). When dealing with temptation and sin, you must take an offensive approach.

Many times we will stay on defense and wait for issues to come before we act or respond. (Some are even slow to respond.) Now, there are situations that take us by surprise and we must address them immediately, but we should still remain active – not passive.

Walk away, stand up, drive away, call someone, stand, sit down, speak, don’t speak…you get the idea!

Take the appropriate steps to keep sin out of your life…stand firm in the faith.

1. Know yourself. You will be tested and/or tempted based on WHO you are and what Satan can find in you. You are in a war and the enemy will use your weaknesses to destroy you.

2. QUICKLY establish the relationship as being NOTHING more than professional.
